"It's a super cool moment when you step on stage there, you don't often experience something like that!", says Jeffrey den Dikkenboer from Breda, owner of hair salon Hier en Dhaar Breda. He can call himself the silver winner of the international Global creative awards 2022 for 'Men's Hairstylist of the year'. This year's final took place on the 2nd of October in Amsterdam. This is the competition to show your mastery and expertise.
Every year, Jeffrey and his partner Isabel de Koning, co-owner of Hier en Dhaar, participate in competitions based on hair fashion photography for hairdressers. This year, the Hier en Dhaar team participated with five people in the Global Creative awards 2022. Jeffrey and his colleague Bikkel Jacobs were both worldwide nominated for 'Men's hairstylist of the year' and were in the final together with four other nominees. The competition was fierce and came from the Netherlands (three nominees), Malaysia, Ukraine and the United Kingdom. After seeing his entry, Jeffrey was declared Silver winner by an international jury.
Wins in different categories
The international competition consists of seven categories. Divided into three technical 'live' categories and four editorial 'photo only' categories. Jeffrey came second in the editorial category 'Men's hairstylist of the year'. In short, this category is a competition to show your mastery and expertise in men's styling, barbering and grooming by creating a collection of current looks for men. Isabel won the bronze prize in the technical category 'Creative colorist of the year' of the Benelux.
Kao Salon Global Experience
The finals are part of the Kao Salon Global Experience 2022, which took place in Amsterdam this year. A two-day event with a program of excellent shows and inspiring artist sessions. More than 2,300 hairdressers from around the world united this year to announce the Global creative awards winners. The event will take place in Chicago next year.
